The 2008 Polkura Block g+I Syrah presents a more evolved, tertiary expression of the same site, highlighting Syrah’s ability to age with complexity and savoury depth.
Colour has softened to deep garnet. Aromas lean firmly into maturity: leather, dried blackberry, smoked bacon, black olive and earth, with subtle iodine and pepper notes. Oak has fully integrated, contributing texture rather than flavour.
On the palate, the wine is medium-to-full bodied with resolved tannins and a savoury core. Dark fruit persists, but it is secondary to notes of umami, dried herbs and mineral. Acidity keeps the wine alive, carrying a long, gently savoury finish.
This is Syrah for lovers of evolution rather than fruit intensity - complex, layered and deeply satisfying.
