The 2010 Polkura Block g+I Syrah is a muscular yet sophisticated expression of coastal Chilean Syrah, shaped by granite soils and cool Pacific influences.
In the glass, it shows a deep, opaque purple. The nose is intense and savoury: blackberry, olive tapenade, smoked meat, cracked pepper and graphite, with hints of violet and iron lending lift. There’s a distinctly Rhône-like character beneath the fruit.
The palate is powerful but controlled. Dense black fruit is framed by firm, fine-grained tannins and bright acidity, giving the wine structure and energy. Savoury notes of cured meat, liquorice and spice dominate the mid-palate, carrying through to a long, mineral-driven finish.
