The 1998 Wynns Coonawarra Estate Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon is a compelling testament to both the longevity and regional identity of Coonawarra Cabernet. Black Label, Australia’s first commercially labelled Cabernet, first made in 1954, earns its place in cellars by combining classic varietal purity with a medium-to-mature complexity that only time can bring. 

In the glass, this bottle displays a deep garnet hue with hints of brick at the rim — a hallmark of graceful evolution rather than decline. The bouquet is beautifully developed: an enticing interplay of blackberry and cassis fruit, earthy forest floor, cedar, tobacco and touches of savory mint or herbal lift. Secondary notes of dark chocolate and subtle spice add depth without overpowering the core Cabernet character.
