Xanadu Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2013

The 2013 Xanadu Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon is a compelling snapshot of classic Margaret River Cabernet in a mature phase of development. Predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with small additions of Petit Verdot and Malbec, this wine reflects the maritime-influenced climate and refined terroir of Western Australia’s premier red-wine region.

In the glass, the colour is deep garnet with a slight brick edge, an early sign of age gracefully unfolding. The bouquet is fragrant and expressive: cassis, blackcurrant and mulberry entwine with dried herbs, tobacco leaf and violet perfume, while cedar and gentle spice from judicious oak linger in the background.

On the palate, the wine is both rich and composed. Ripe dark fruits carry through with nuance, blackberries and plum compote are underscored by a savoury thread of forest floor and cedar. Firm, fine tannins offer structure without aggression, while balanced acidity keeps the palate lively and focused.
